The real story behind Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol?
After his death on Christmas Eve, Jacob Marley finds himself condemned to stagger under the weight of his lifetime’s worth of cashboxes, ledgers and padlocked safes. He’s told he has one last chance to save himself – if he rescues old Scrooge from the same fate. Teamed with the Bogle (a malicious netherworld sprite), he sets off on a journey to redeem his former partner. But persuading the monstrous old miser to change the ways of a lifetime proves to be a near impossible task, leading to a showdown at the mouth of hell itself - one that will determine the fate of them all.
An alternative take on the timeless Christmas tale, both in story and staging, this journey of laughter and terror, redemption and renewal returns to the origins of storytelling, with just four players narrating as well as acting out the action.
